Halloween Camping Trip

Well, we had a successful first camping trip! We left Friday afternoon for Drummer Boy in Gettysburg for our Halloween trick-or-treat camping weekend. Set up went relatively good, although we did have to move our position on the site after trying to get as close as we could to the electric and water, we then realized we couldn't get the slide out out the whole way. But once we were settled, we had a good evening. We made hamburgers for dinner and then built a fire. By that time the kids were getting tired so we headed in to get ready for bed. We put Cody in the Pack N Play and Hannah on the pull out couch which worked out great. They both fell right to sleep and slept through until 8 am! After breakfast we took Hannah to the Build A Bear workshop the campground was having. She picked out a kitty and dressed it as a ballerina and 30 dollars later we went back to the camper!!! It was such a rainy dreary day but we made the best of it. I started making Rigatoni to put in the crock pot for dinner and my parents came to visit. By this time we ate some lunch and then it was time to get ready for trick-or-treat. The rain stopped long enough for Hannah and I to go up and down a few lanes and collect some candy. Jimmy stayed at the campsite and handed out our candy. By then the rain started again. Cody woke from his nap and we dressed him in his Elmo attire. Jimmy took us in the truck so Cody could go a little bit. He wasn't too sure about trick-or-treat. He was a little shy to go up and pick a treat.
Jimmy carved a pumpkin for the kids (which i have to say was very impressive!) After dinner we played some cards and then Jimmy's friend from work came to visit and we built a fire again. The kids played outside a little since the rain finally stopped. In no time it was time to get baths and hit the hay. We had another successful night. Sunday morning after having breakfast we started loading up to go home. We were all wishing we had another day. The kids really enjoyed themselves and were very good the entire trip. We all can't wait to go again in the spring!

Another Weekend Goes By

Friday after work i picked up the kids from day care and we went to McDonald's since Jimmy was hunting. We had a pleasant evening playing. By that time Jimmy was home and it was baths and bed. On Saturday me and the kids had the day to ourselves. We started out at Kohl's to look for an outfit for Cody's pictures and then stopped at Deka Dancewear to find Hannah a pair of ballet slippers. I took a chance and stopped at Game Crazy to see if they had a Wii Fit (since i was bidding on one the night before and lost the bid) and here they had 5! What fun we are having with this! Hannah was telling me that i needed to read the "constructions" before playing. Four year olds say the cutest things! Saturday evening i took Cody to get his pictures taken. I really thought i was going to have to reschedule but he finally cooperated and sat on the chair. We had a few good shots. I had put this off for so long knowing he would be difficult but it all worked out. On Sunday we went to the grocery store and then spent the afternoon outside trimming and weeding. What a gorgeous weekend! Today i got caught up on some things around the house. Mom and Dad came down to visit and play with the kids. We all had fun playing the Wii. Hannah kicked my butt at bowling! Now its off to day care to pick up fundraising food. So long for now...

Our Weekend At A Glance...

It was a great weekend! Friday night I had to work late. Mom and Dad offered to pick the kids up from day care and have them spend the night which worked out really well since the Asthma Walk was Sat am. I wanted to take them but wasn't sure how they would do. So Friday night after work Jimmy and I had the evening to do whatever!! We had to go to the bank to sign more papers and then went to Long John Silvers for dinner. By the time we got home i was exhausted and was ready for bed. Jimmy got up early for the first day of archery and i got to lay in bed with no kids till it was time to get ready for the walk. I got some things done around the house and then left for the walk. Had a good time...walked 2 miles. Then it was off to have the day alone to do whatever i wanted, no husband, no kids....it was a lot of fun just doing whatever came to mind. First i got my hair cut and then it was off to Target to search for the perfect Halloween costumes for the kids. Hannah is going to be Princess Aurora and Cody is Elmo. Then i stopped at the mall to look around a little. Then later in the afternoon i met Mom and Dad at the car show in Spring Grove which was also a fall festival with free food and entertainment. The kids had a good time. They had a bounce house, hayride, puppet show, and games. Cody was getting tired by the end so we headed home for baths and bedtime! On Sunday i took Hannah to the grocery store while Cody stayed home and mowed the grass with his dad. We spent a good bit of time outside, me pulling weeds, and the kids played. It was such a nice fall day and i know soon we'll be couped up inside wishing we could get out in the fresh air without freezing. After dinner we played the Wii and kicked Jimmy's butt at bowling and tennis, although he beat me in fitness age like he always does.

Today i'm taking Hannah and Lexi to dance and then hopefully make some chicken salad and finish some laundry. By that time Jimmy will be home and i'll have to start thinking about dinner, and baths, and bed. The days just go by so quickly. Well, off to dance class.
