A Mischevious Little Boy

This is what happened when I was blogging earlier. Just had to share this. Thank goodness it was near the end of the roll anyhow!

No more NUK!!

So i have to blog about the very exciting event that took place in the Showman household last week....Cody gave up his Nuk! Last Monday we went to his 2 year checkup and i was questioning the doctor about terrible temper tantrums and whining and he said that if Cody gave up his Nuk, it would "bump up" his maturity level. So in my mind i thought well maybe this spring when he is healthier, we will SLOWLY get rid of it. This all changed when i told my husband the story. He immediately grabbed his favorite Nuk and snipped the end right in half! Of course i panicked because it was soon bedtime and he has not been feeling well lately. The remainder of the evening went well, he only asked for it a few times. When we would give him the cut off one, he would spit it out and even when to throw it in the garbage (I dug it out in case we needed to remind him that it was broke). Then bedtime came but to my suprise he did fine!! He whined for it two times and i went back into his room and told him we were no longer going to have a Nuk! So i showed him the cut off one and he just held onto it while he slept. It was so cute! Well, it has been a week now and he doesn't even ask for it! And what is even better is that at nighttime he doesn't lose it from coughing and cry for it. I just wish i would've done this sooner. If I only knew it was going to be this easy.

Scrappin' and Relaxin' Weekend

On Saturday, a few friends got together for a scrappin' day. It felt good to actually get a few pages done. I thought that this winter i would have more time to crop but it always seems like there are not enough hours in a day (just enough to get your work done and no time for play!) I am now done with Hannah and Cody's first years and have moved on to birthdays. After struggling with this concept, i finally came to the conclusion that you do not have to do everything in order. So i have just been picking whatever i feel like working on and it's more fun that way. I had a chance to use the Cricut for the first time and am convinced that i absolutely need one of these! I'm thinking, maybe if i save my 20 dollars a week towards eating out, that i could save enough by the summer! This just means i have to stick to it and not get a craving for Subway or McDonalds!

Today was a lazy day...went to the grocery store and did a few things around the house. Hannah got to spend some time with her Nanny and Pappy and Hayley. They went to McDonalds to play and then we introduced them to the Wii when they got back. We had fun laughing at one another trying to hula hoop. Another great weekend over already.

Happy 2nd Birthday, Cody!

I just can't believe my little boy is two already! We celebrated with family and friends at our house on Sunday with, what else, but a CARS theme! Unfortunately Cody had gotten a cold two weeks prior and i thought for sure he would be completely over this until his birthday came around, but he was still feeling pretty miserable. In fact, he wasn't even into eating cake and ice cream! Despite all this, we had a great time. Cody was very excited with his new toys, although he still wasn't quite getting how to open gifts. He had plenty of help from his sister and friends though! He's really starting to go from a toddler to a little boy these days. With new words everyday, he is quite entertaining at times.

Hello Louisville Kentucky!

It's been quite an exhausting day. Got up bright and early this morning to finish packing and then the time came to say goodbye to my kiddos, which I have to say was much easier for them! I thought i would be okay until it came right down to it. I gave them both hugs and kisses and they were totally ok with it! Jimmy walked me to the car and then it hit me...i'm really leaving everyone for 5 days! The longest amount of time i've ever been away from them. I managed to hold back the tears until Jimmy went inside and i just sat in the car and cried, i mean tears rolling down my face. I got myself together and headed for Ann's house. I kept telling myself, this is a good thing, Jimmy can handle it.

We had good flights and arrived in Louisville, however, our luggage did not. This was our first little mishap. Apparently because we had such a short connecting flight in Charlotte, our luggage did not make it. So it should be arriving tonight around 9:30 delivered to our hotel, hopefully. We then went to get our rental car and found our car was in the wrong spot. Then once we finally found our car we hooked up the GPS and typed in our hotel. Pushed go and we were on our way. Uh no. Unfortunately the GPS did not know where our hotel was. (We found out later the hotel is so new that it was not recognized on the GPS). We arrived at some townhouse complex. We then relied on good old written directions amd eventually we did find it. Our rooms are awesome. We got dinner to go at Jason's Deli next to the hotel and brought it back so we could watch the football game. Go Steelers!! Now we are just kicking back and relaxing. Some of us watching football and some geeks are on the computer! We were joking earlier cause we saw a tee shirt at the airport that said "Lucky in Kentucky". We are saying "Unlucky in Kentucky". Tomorrow is the first day of class from 9-5. Hopefully i can pass the test...

How time flies by...

I just can't believe how the time flies by. I thought i'd better update my blog before it's spring and i have only two posts for winter! Today is Monday and i am enjoying the day off with the kiddos. Cody and I are at home waiting our few minutes before driving back to East Berlin to get Hannah from dance class. Then it's back to the house for lunch and then off to the Utz potato chip factory tour this afternoon with the playgroup. Since we didn't get the anticipated snow this past Saturday, we were able to attend the tiny tots skate at Magic Elm. This was Hannah's first skate and she did pretty good! We got the skates that went over her shoes which was a very good idea. They had a mini skating lesson with the kids first which was nice. About an hour into it, Hannah was saying her legs hurt so we took a break and then she went back out and did the Hokey Pokey and the limbo. I think i had just as much fun as she did! Although i didn't brave it and get on skates, yeah i need to be able to work...can't afford a broken bone! Then on Sunday we had Jimmy's parents over for dinner and to watch football. Then Hannah and I spent some time on Webkinz world. The weekend just goes too fast. Well, off to get Hannah.
